Mexicanízate: A tour through the flavors and traditions of Mexico

by | May 13, 2025

In recent months, we embarked on an adventure to celebrate what makes us unique: our gastronomy, history, customs and, above all, our creativity. With the “Mexicanízate” campaign, we sought to highlight the essence of Mexico through its entrepreneurs who have made .MX their identity in the digital world.

This journey has allowed us to learn inspiring stories of Mexicans who, with their effort and passion, have managed to position their businesses and dreams in the digital ecosystem. Across different industries, we have witnessed the talent that drives Mexico into the future. Today, we want to take a look back at this exciting journey.

Chapter 1: Flavor on every corner

In Mexico, flavor is also a legacy. It is found in recipes passed down from generation to generation, in street corner food stalls, in kitchens that tell stories, and in dishes that have carried our country’s name to every corner of the world. Mexican cuisine not only represents us: it connects us, identifies us, and projects us.

Today, that culinary legacy is also finding new ways to reach further. Restaurants, chefs, and gastronomic projects have taken their seasoning to the digital environment, using websites and their own spaces to share their proposals, their vision, and their origins. One example is KOLI, the project created by the Rivera Río brothers, which explores the cuisine of northeastern Mexico from a contemporary perspective, celebrating local ingredients, producers, and traditions. From Monterrey, their offering has transcended borders and positioned itself among the best restaurants in Latin America, demonstrating that what is made in Mexico can engage with the world without losing its roots.

This chapter reminds us that cuisine is much more than food: it is identity, economy, and community. And to better understand how that legacy is built, evolves, and is shared today, it is worth delving into the complete story that brings this chapter to life.

Chapter 2: Mexico is a culture of entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship in Mexico means believing when the path is not yet mapped out. It means persisting, imagining solutions, and building opportunities even in complex scenarios. Mexican entrepreneurial culture is based on creativity, innovation, and a constant ability to adapt, transforming ideas into projects with a real impact on the economy and communities.

This spirit is reflected in stories such as that of Pepe Mora, lighting designer and founder of El No Emprendedor. From his passion for creating atmospheres through light, he found a niche that was largely unexplored in Mexico and turned it into a solid career path. Over time, his experience became a platform for sharing knowledge, supporting other entrepreneurs, and helping companies renew and evolve. Through digital tools and his own online spaces, Pepe has demonstrated that digitization not only expands the reach of a project, but also makes it clearer, more accessible, and more professional.

This chapter reminds us that entrepreneurship in Mexico is not just about starting a business, but also about building a vision, sharing knowledge, and making an impact. These stories confirm that when Mexican talent finds an ally in digital technology, ideas don’t just grow they transcend.

Chapter 3: The color of ideas

Mexican crafts, textiles, and fashion are much more than aesthetics: they are heritage, creativity, and a way of understanding the world. Every handmade garment, every embroidery, and every fabric tells stories that originate in communities with deep roots and that today engage in dialogue with new forms of expression and consumption.

This dialogue is reflected in projects such as Someone Somewhere, a brand that was born from an encounter with women artisans in the Sierra Norte de Puebla and that knew how to combine contemporary design with traditional techniques. Through fair and constant collaboration, the brand has managed to bring the work of more than 200 artisans to new markets, demonstrating that fashion can also be a tool for social impact. In the digital environment, its online presence has become a bridge for each garment to preserve its origin, its history, and the face of the person who created it.

This chapter shows us how Mexican textile talent is not only preserved but also evolves. Thanks to digital platforms and dedicated online spaces, Mexican made fashion finds new showcases to continue telling stories, strengthening local economies, and projecting our identity to the world without losing its essence.

Chapter 4: Mexico is innovation

In the world of entrepreneurship in Mexico, connections are everything. It’s not enough to have a good product: you have to know how to tell its story, listen to customers, and build authentic relationships that generate trust. Digitalization has changed the way Mexican entrepreneurs evolve, connect, and seek well-being.

Brands that were born in a bazaar or family workshop now sell online, create communities on social media, and position their identity through websites with .MX domains. This not only gives them visibility, but also projects them as professional, approachable, and proudly Mexican businesses.

Innovating in Mexico does not always mean inventing something new, but rather finding better ways to connect, communicate, and care. In an environment where people seek brands with purpose, digitization has become a key tool for entrepreneurs to build trust, listen to their community, and evolve with authenticity.

This approach is reflected in the story of Sofía Torre, co-founder of Habits, who transformed her interest in health and wellness into a project that focuses on clarity, quality, and flavor. Through a proposal focused on products such as protein, creatine, collagen, and official brand merchandise, Habits has managed to build a community that is committed to physical performance, consistency, and personal care. In the digital environment, its online presence and its .MX domain site have become a space to inform, connect, and promote a healthy lifestyle with a Mexican stamp.

This chapter shows that innovation also stems from purpose. When a brand understands its audience and uses digital technology to communicate honestly, it doesn’t just sell: it creates bonds, generates well-being, and demonstrates that in Mexico, innovation is driven by vision, commitment, and pride in what is done.

Chapter 5: Mexico is tradition

Mexican tradition is not only preserved: it is reinvented. Expressions such as ceramics, jewelry, and folk art have found a new way to stay alive and relevant in the digital world. From workshops in Oaxaca, Puebla, and Chiapas, Mexican artisans are bringing their legacy to new audiences through social media, online stores, and websites with the .MX domain, proving that cultural heritage can also evolve.

One example of this is the work of Jacobo and María Ángeles, master artisans from San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca, who in 1994 founded the Jacobo & María Ángeles Workshop with the aim of reviving the ancestral Zapotec practice of carving copal wood and hand-decorating tonas and nahuales. What began as a personal dream has grown into a creative industry that today employs more than 260 people in six locations in Oaxaca.

Their workshop also functions as an arts and crafts school, a space for training, exhibitions, commercial partnerships, and guided tours, where traditional figures come to life not only in wood, but also in ceramics, jewelry, footwear, and other contemporary expressions. Thanks to its digital presence, his art has transcended borders and gained international recognition.

This project demonstrates that Mexican tradition does not belong solely to the past: when combined with vision, entrepreneurship, and digital tools, it becomes a living force that generates impact, identity, and pride around the world.

Chapter 6: Mexico is community

Mexico is built on unity. We see it in markets, in squares, and today also in digital spaces, where collaboration and a sense of belonging continue to drive thousands of projects. Every venture with a .MX domain is part of a larger network, where growth means sharing, listening, and moving forward together. In Mexico, success is rarely individual: it is communal.

This idea is reflected in the story of Alejandro Gabriel Gutiérrez Ávila, founder of the Mexican Barbecue Society (SMP). It all started with a shared passion: fire. Unable to find barbecue competitions in Mexico, he decided to create his own, giving rise to a first event that brought together people with the same enthusiasm.

Over time, that gathering became a community that now has a presence in cities such as Nuevo León, Querétaro, Guadalajara, and Mexico City, as well as expanding to Texas. More than an organization, the SMP is a space where gastronomy, conviviality, and Mexican identity are celebrated together. For Alejandro, the key has been listening to his community and growing with it, demonstrating that when a passion is shared, it can transform into a movement.

In this chapter, we celebrate how shared ideas, when accompanied by digital tools and community, can transform into movements that grow, strengthen, and transcend borders.

Chapter 7: Mexico is Legacy

There are things in Mexico that cannot be explained, they are inherited. Stories passed down from generation to generation, symbols that survive the test of time, and cultural expressions that, although they evolve, never lose their roots. That legacy does not live only in the past; it transforms, adapts, and finds new ways to remain present.

A clear example is the story of El Hijo del Santo, a wrestler who for decades has protected the legacy of Mexican wrestling and has known how to evolve to stay connected with new generations. From the ring to the digital environment, his career shows that honoring the past also means understanding the present, bringing a history, an identity, and a brand to the digital world through projects such as La Tienda del Santo Shop, where that legacy lives on and is in constant dialogue with the public.

Today, that Mexican legacy is evident in different industries that have managed to grow without losing their essence. From culture and entertainment to new digital models, Mexico shows that its identity is not static: it is projected, shared, and continues to leave its mark. This chapter explores those stories that connect the past and the present, and which can now also be discovered in audiovisual format.
